Lake Norman

This past weekend, Alex and I headed north of Charlotte to visit Lake Norman State Park.  It had rained pretty heavily the day before so several of the trails were closed; but we were able to do the Lake Shore Trail which we've done in the past and really enjoyed.  It's about a three-mile hike and follows the shore along Lake Norman.  The weather was cooler than weekends previously, so it was really nice to get out and explore.

After our hike, we headed to Midway Boathouse Grill for breakfast where we shared biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes, and a side of bacon.  It was delicious and hit the spot after our hike!

Before heading home, we made a stop at Daveste Vineyards where we each ordered a glass of wine and sat outside on their deck in rocking chairs.  We also had a chance to walk through the vineyards where we were told the grapes would be ready to pick in the next 10 days.  It was a great way to wind down the afternoon and relax before driving back to Charlotte.
