Pacific Northwest (Part III- Cannon Beach)

After our time in Seattle, we took off for our next destination, Cannon Beach.  About 15 minutes outside of Cannon Beach, is Seaside and we made a short stop there to grab lunch at Norma's Seafood and Steak for a bowl of clam chowder and to take a stroll on the boardwalk.

We then headed to Cannon Beach where we stayed at the Stephanie Inn which overlooked the beach.  As our room was on the first floor, we spent lots of time on the patio outside enjoying the beautiful view and taking strolls up and down the beach.  This was probably my favorite part of our trip, I just loved the Oregon coast!

The next morning, we woke up bright and early (no surprise there!) and headed to an area about 20 minutes away known as Sand Dollar Point hoping to find a few sand dollars.  Well, much to my delight, we were able to find a whole bunch and ended up bringing 30 back with us!  I had a lot of fun searching and digging them out of the sand.  It was a secluded area and we had the whole beach basically to ourselves with the exception of a few runners.

Found one live sand dollar- they are purple instead of white.  We left this one in the ocean!

After our sand dollar excursion, we had breakfast in Seaside and then went to Ecola State Park where we hiked to Tillamook Lighthouse.  It was a really pretty hike that included both coastal and forest views.

We spent the afternoon walking around downtown Cannon Beach and resting at the hotel.  We ended the day with a sunset walk on the beach. I am very much looking forward to being back on the Oregon Coast!
