Pacific Northwest (Part II- Seattle)
On Monday, we drove to Seattle where we will spend the next couple of days. Alex and I love to explore cities on foot and tend to walk almost everywhere when we visit a new place. Let's just say Seattle was no exception. According to the tracker on my phone, we walked over 33,000 steps the first day in Seattle (about 11 miles!).
We visited the Olympic Sculpture Park which is an outdoor sculpture garden spreading over nine acres north of downtown.
After the Olympic Sculpture Garden, we decided to visit the Chihuly Museum and I'm so glad we did! The exhibit showcases the studio glass of Dale Chihuly and it was breathtakingly beautiful.
We then headed up to Kerry Park where you can see great views of Seattle. It was a steep hike up the hills (I did not realize until that moment that Seattle was so hilly!), but we made it to the top in one piece and enjoyed the beautiful view!
We ended the evening with dinner and drinks at Damn the Weather in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle. This area was quite beautiful and we strolled around after eating looking at the various shops.
The next day we woke early and drove to Discovery Park where we hiked a four-mile loop to see the West Point Lighthouse.
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around various neighborhoods in Seattle before eating dinner at Walrus and the Carpenter where we had oysters and other fresh seafood. We then got drinks at Needle & Thread which is a prohibition-type speakeasy. There are no menus, you tell the bartender what you like and they will whip up something just for you! We had a lot of fun and I hope to visit Seattle again soon!
