Strahan

We left Cradle Mountain for Strahan this past Thursday morning.  On the drive to Strahan, we stopped in Williamsford to hike the Montezuma Falls track.  This three-hour trek takes you to Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls, standing at 340-feet.  It was an easy walk through the rainforest to reach the falls.

The primary reason for traveling to Strahan was to take a cruise down the Gordon River and around Macquarie Harbour.  We were planning to take the cruise on Friday, our only full-day in Strahan, but as we approached closer to the date of our arrival in Strahan, we realized the weather forecasted non-stop rain on Friday.  Thursday’s weather was looking much more pleasant with sunny skies and warm temperatures. We decided to join the 3 ½ hour afternoon cruise on Thursday and I’m so glad we did as it ended up pouring rain all day on Friday.  It was a great day to be on the water and we really enjoyed the cruise.

We also spent some time walking around the city center.  We stopped for ice-cream at Bushman's Bar and Cafe and sat outside for awhile to relax in the sunshine.
