Blackberry Farm (Part I)

Over Easter weekend, Alex and I headed to Tennessee to stay at Blackberry Farm.  Alex's former colleague told us about Blackberry Farm several years ago and since then, it has been on our bucket list to visit.  We drove down Friday and stopped in Asheville for lunch at Buxton Hall, one of our favorite BBQ places.  It's about a 4+ hour drive from Charlotte to the farm, so it was nice to break it up a bit.

Once arriving at Blackberry Farm, we checked into our room and then went exploring.  The grounds are unbelievable and there are pathways leading all over the property.  It is set in the Smokey Mountains on over 4200 acres!

After walking around, we showered and dressed for dinner.   We ate at The Barn the first night which was excellent.  The restaurant sources most of their food locally and even gathers the vegetables and herbs from the garden on the farm!  It is a beautiful converted barn and we had a delicious meal!

The next day, we woke and did a 3 mile hike through the smokey mountains.  It was a beautiful morning and we pretty much had the trail to ourselves.

We spent the remainder of Saturday afternoon eating, reading, and walking around.  We also played a riveting game of Scrabble in which Alex and I each won one game!

I'll post the second part of our trip soon!
