We All Scream for Ice Cream!
Well, I'm attempting to write my first blog post ever! Yay! I just returned from a trip to the Midwest to visit my grandparents. Some of my most favorite memories are spending a week in the summer at their farm. There is just so much to do, see and experience.
I specifically chose this week as my grandmother's church, Bee Ridge, was hosting it's annual Ice Cream Supper. 25 flavors of homemade ice cream?!? Sign me up! My aunt and uncle live down the road and my parents were also there (they picked me up from the airport), so it was nice to spend some time with family.
The Ice Cream Supper had about 500 attendees (approximately 1/8 of my grandparent's county!). It was a beautiful evening, although a bit warm early on. This is my third year attending and my mom and I have developed a system where we each select different flavors in an effort to try them all! My favorites this year were a toss-up: chocolate and butterfinger! Sooooo good!
My grandparents had the cutest kittens! There were seven in total and less than two months old. They were a bit timid and shy at first, but by the end of the week, most would allow us to pick them up and pet them. I could have stayed in the shed for hours cuddling the kittens. They were so fluffy and soft!
I ended the weekend, with a visit to my college roommate and friend, Stacy, who lives in Des Moines with her husband (Kyle) and 3-year-old daughter (Lydia). It was nice being able to catch up with them.
It was a great week and I'm glad I was able to spend some time with family and friends. Can't wait to visit the farm again!
