Yarra Bend Park

Yesterday, Alex and I explored Yarra Bend Park, the largest area of natural bushland near Melbourne.  We choose the Dights Falls path which follows the river around the park.  The walk took a little over an hour and there were lots of other people and cyclists on the trail.

Around the park are little signs with information about the wildlife and river.  One sign mentioned the Yarra River is brown due to large amounts of clay in the soil which easily erodes into the water.

Before heading out to the park, we stopped at Journeyman Cafe for brunch.  I got the smashed avocado and pea on toast and Alex got the feta potato croquette.  It was delicious and we were stuffed once we finished!  Alex is attempting to learn how to "poach the perfect egg" and the poached eggs on our breakfast gave him some stiff competition!  Alex feels he hasn't quite mastered the poached egg technique (as he puts it, he still has little wispy's), but I'm sure by the end of our time here he will have it down!!
