Praia da Barriga
Yesterday we checked out Praia da Barriga ("Beach of the Belly") about 30 minutes from our apartment. We've been having a blast exploring this region and each beach we visit seems to have something unique about it. Praia da Barriga was no exception with its rugged black cliffs and bright algae covered rocks.
After we arrived, we decided to first hike along the cliffs surrounding the beach before it got too warm for the day. It was nice to get an aerial view of the beach from this angle.
As it was low tide, we were able to walk around the tide pools and jagged rocks below which was interesting; although, other than a few snails and barnacles, I didn't see too much wildlife. During low tide the beach connects to its neighbor, Praia da Cordoama, which gave the appearance of one very long and sandy beach.
