Tavira
During our two weeks on the eastern side of the Algarve we stayed in the ancient Morrish town of Tavira. Tavira extends along the banks of the Gilão River and is a beautiful town full of historic buildings, pretty cobbled streets, and decorative churches.
The Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo was built in the 13th century on the site of a former mosque and then rebuilt 500 years later after damages caused by the 1755 earthquake.
