Mount Maunganui

It is a three hour drive from Coromandel to Mount Maunganui and we arrived to town around noon.  Mount Maunganui stands 761-feet tall and there is both a summit walk to the top as well as a base walk.  Since we were not wearing our hiking clothes, we chose to do the base walk in the afternoon and later returned to do the summit walk at sunset.  It was a beautiful hike and the water looked so blue.

Alex turned 34 yesterday and to celebrate we grabbed ice-cream cones from Copenhagen Cones.  Happy Birthday Hubby!

In the evening, we went back to Mount Maunganui to complete the summit walk and were rewarded with beautiful 360-degree views of the town and the Bay of Plenty at sunset.

Wednesday morning, we woke and went for a long walk along the beach close to our hotel.  Even though it was early, there were already several people enjoying the day.  We only did one night in Mount Maunganui and the beach walk was the perfect way to end our time in this city.  After our walk, we packed up our stuff and headed to our next location, Rotorua.
