Federation Cliff Walk
On our last full day in Sydney, we decided to walk the Federation Cliff Walk. The walk starts in Watsons Bay and follows along the coast providing beautiful views of the South Pacific Ocean.
We did make a bit of a detour at the beginning of the track to see the Hornby Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1858 following the wrecking of the ship, Dunbar. It is the third lighthouse to be built in New South Wales and is surrounded by views of the Sydney Harbour, Middle Head, North Head, and the Pacific Ocean.
The water here is so clear and we even saw a group of people taking scuba diving lessons.
Once we made our way back from Hornby Lighthouse and Watsons Bay, we got on the pathway for the Federation Cliff Walk. Although we passed a few people on this walk, it was relatively quiet with just Alex and I.
At one point, a police helicopter flew by and we were practically at eye level!
Along the walk, we also passed the Macquarie Lighthouse, Australia's oldest lighthouse. It was constructed in 1818 and rebuilt in 1883. It is still in operation today!
We walked for a couple of hours and then took the bus west to the neighborhood of Glebe where we ate lunch at Tramshed. This community hub of restaurants, cafes, and bars is housed in the former Rozelle Train Depot. Alex and I decided on ramen and rice bowls from the Japanese restaurant, Osaka Trading Co. It was delicious! The waiter was really friendly and ended up chatting to us about things to do on the East Coast of Australia (we will be there in June) and showed us pictures from his most recent trip to the area. It was so cute!
I can't believe our time in Sydney has come to an end. Alex and I really enjoyed re-exploring this beautiful city with its crystal-clear beaches, locals who are so friendly and helpful, and all sorts of delicious food! I will miss it greatly and hope it won't be another 14 years before we are able to visit again!
