Bridport

Monday, we left Coles Bay and headed to Bridport where we stayed for one night.  On our way to Bridport we stopped at Bridestowe Lavender Estate. The estate boasts over 260 acres of lavender fields, landscaped gardens and native forests.  Unfortunately, the lavender harvest occurred just a couple of weeks ago so we missed the fields when they were in full bloom.  Nevertheless, the fields were still very green and looked beautiful on the sloping hills with Mount Arthur in the background.  We enjoyed some fresh lavender scones and I picked up a couple of soaps and a bottle of lavender oil to take home.

We then headed into the town of Bridport where we hiked part of the Bridport Walking Track.  We walked through the Bridport Wildflower Reserve, along the ocean to Mermaid Beach and  then around town.  The water here still gets me every time and I just can’t get over the turquoise color.

On Tuesday we drove to Launceston where Alex and I will stay until Friday.  We are a little over halfway through our Tasmania trip and I cannot believe we only have a couple of weeks left before heading back to mainland Australia.  It is going so quickly!
